Is Nextly free?
Yes. Nextly is free while we grow. If we add paid options later, we’ll announce them well in advance. You pay your AI provider directly only if you use your own cloud API keys.
What is Nextly?
A Mac app that listens to your meeting on your machine, draws on your notes and files, and shows a short Say This Now cue so you know what to say next.
Is Nextly Mac-only?
Yes. Nextly is built for macOS, with a native Mac shell, global shortcuts and a Mac virtual camera.
Do I need an account?
Yes. You sign in with email, Google, GitHub, Apple or Microsoft to activate Nextly on your Mac. It’s free. We use your name and email only for sign-in and licensing, never your meeting content.
What is Interview mode?
A mode type that grounds answers in your résumé and the target role, with standard or technical emphasis, answer length, natural pauses and pre-approved answers to common questions.
Where is my data stored?
On your Mac. The app runs a local backend, keeps API keys in the macOS Keychain, and stores saved meetings in an encrypted local database. By default, meetings are saved when they end and kept until you delete them. Change this in Settings › Storage › Keep Meetings (Until I Save or Don’t Keep). Audio and text you send to a cloud provider are handled by that provider. See our Privacy Policy.
What does Nextly Camera do?
It is a virtual camera that applies Eye Contact (redirecting your gaze toward the lens while you read) and optional Beauty softening, processed on your Mac. Select “Nextly Camera” in your meeting app.
How do I delete my account?
Email [email protected] from your account email. We delete your account, sign-in record and customer record within 30 days. To clear your Mac, use Settings › Privacy › Delete All Local Data, or quit Nextly and delete ~/Library/Application Support/Nextly AI. Full steps.
Does Nextly join my meeting?
No. It runs on your Mac alongside your call app and doesn’t add a participant to the call.
What permissions does it need?
Typically Microphone and Screen Recording for audio capture, Accessibility for shortcuts and Clipboard To Type, and Camera plus the Nextly Camera extension if you use the camera features.
Which AI providers does it support?
For answers: Gemini, Claude, OpenAI/ChatGPT, Groq, DeepSeek, Kimi, OpenRouter, NVIDIA, local models via Ollama, LiteLLM and OpenCode, or a custom endpoint. For transcription: Grok Voice Transcribe, Deepgram Flux and Nova-3, Groq Whisper, OpenAI Whisper, Gemini Transcribe, Azure Speech, Google Cloud and more.
Is it okay to use Nextly in interviews or calls?
Use Nextly only where transcription and AI assistance are permitted, and follow the rules of your employer, the interviewer and local law, including consent to record.
Can other people see Nextly when I share my screen?
With Stealth features on, Nextly is kept hidden from supported screen-sharing and capture tools. Behaviour can vary by app and macOS version, so test your setup before an important call.
